The CHANEL executive joins Óscar García Maceiras and Paul Polman in leading the global fashion coalition, as it expands its leadership and shifts its focus towards measurable environmental action.
The Fashion Pact has appointed Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Fashion Activities at CHANEL and President of CHANEL SAS, as co-chair, strengthening the coalition’s leadership as it seeks to accelerate environmental progress across the global fashion industry.
Pavlovsky joins Óscar García Maceiras, Chief Executive Officer of Inditex, and Paul Polman, the former Chief Executive Officer of Unilever, as the coalition enters a new phase focused on translating collective commitments into practical action.
The announcement also includes the appointment of Gildo Zegna and Pier Paolo Righi to The Fashion Pact’s executive committee, bringing additional senior industry representation to its governance structure. The changes come as fashion companies face mounting pressure to demonstrate progress on emissions reductions, responsible sourcing and environmental accountability across increasingly complex supply chains.
Strengthening Leadership Across the Fashion Industry
Established in 2019, The Fashion Pact is a global coalition of fashion and textile companies working together to address environmental challenges that extend beyond the capabilities of individual businesses. Its priorities centre on three areas: climate change, biodiversity and ocean protection.
The initiative brings together companies operating across luxury, premium and mass-market fashion, with the aim of developing collaborative solutions to shared environmental challenges.
Pavlovsky’s appointment reinforces the participation of the luxury sector in the coalition’s leadership, alongside major international fashion retailers and other industry stakeholders. His experience at CHANEL brings an additional perspective to discussions on long-term environmental investment, supply-chain transformation and collective responsibility.
In a statement announcing his appointment, Pavlovsky emphasised the importance of sustained cooperation across the industry.
“At CHANEL, we believe that the transformations facing our industry require long-term commitment and collective action, particularly across supply chains,” he said.
He also expressed his intention to work with fellow co-chairs and coalition members to strengthen the organisation’s international reach and practical effectiveness.
From Collective Commitments to Measurable Progress
The leadership changes reflect The Fashion Pact’s ambition to move beyond establishing shared environmental objectives towards implementing initiatives capable of delivering measurable results.
Since its establishment, the coalition has sought to encourage cooperation among companies that would otherwise operate independently or compete commercially. Its work recognises that many of fashion’s environmental challenges, particularly those associated with raw materials, manufacturing and energy consumption, require coordinated action across interconnected supply chains.
The involvement of senior executives from CHANEL, Inditex and other international fashion businesses provides an opportunity to strengthen this cooperation across different market segments and business models. However, the effectiveness of voluntary industry initiatives ultimately depends on implementation. Commitments to reducing emissions, protecting biodiversity and improving resource management must be supported by investment, operational changes and transparent reporting if they are to produce lasting environmental benefits.
For The Fashion Pact, the next phase will therefore be defined not only by the scale of its membership or the prominence of its leadership, but by its ability to demonstrate progress against its stated objectives. The appointment of Pavlovsky, alongside the expansion of the executive committee, signals continued engagement from senior fashion industry leaders in collective environmental action.
As the coalition develops its next phase, its challenge will be to translate that executive-level commitment into practical improvements across the supply chains and production systems that underpin the global fashion industry.
