The third edition of Labdanation Fashion Week will present 67 runway looks at Sira Village on 28 October, bringing together local fashion labels, emerging design talent and digital textile innovation.

Bali will host the third edition of Labdanation Fashion Week on 28 October 2026, bringing Indonesian fashion labels, emerging designers and textile innovation together for a runway presentation at Sira Village. Taking place at the Sunset Mandala Stage within the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone, the event will explore the relationship between contemporary design, local entrepreneurship and more responsible approaches to fashion production.

Presented under the theme Threads of Legacy, the programme is expected to feature 67 looks presented by 30 professional models, with collections and creative contributions from Morrat Bali, Kimmyra, Novel Mice, UNICE and Institut Desain dan Bisnis (IDB) Bali. The collaboration brings established fashion businesses and design education into a shared presentation, highlighting the role of regional creative talent in Indonesia’s evolving fashion landscape.

Organised by Bali-based textile manufacturer PT Labda Anugerah Tekstil, in collaboration with Sira Village, the event aims to provide a platform for smaller fashion businesses while introducing audiences to developments in textile manufacturing. Beyond the runway, its focus is on the production systems and commercial relationships that can help independent labels develop collections, improve manufacturing access and reach wider markets.

A Platform for Bali’s Designers and Creative Economy

Labdanation Fashion Week arrives at a time when Bali’s creative industries are increasingly seeking opportunities to connect local craftsmanship and contemporary design with broader commercial networks. Although internationally recognised as a tourism destination, the island also supports a diverse community of fashion designers, textile businesses and creative entrepreneurs whose growth depends on access to production resources and opportunities for market visibility.

The participating labels represent different creative perspectives within this landscape. Morrat Bali, Kimmyra, Novel Mice and UNICE will join IDB Bali in a programme intended to encourage collaboration between fashion businesses, emerging talent and the manufacturing sector. While the individual collections have not yet been fully disclosed, the event’s Threads of Legacy theme places heritage and continuity at the centre of its creative direction, opening a conversation about how established textile traditions can coexist with contemporary design and production technologies.

The involvement of IDB Bali adds an educational dimension to the showcase, connecting design students and emerging creative professionals with industry-facing presentation. Such collaborations can provide opportunities for developing designers to understand the relationship between creative direction, textile selection, manufacturing processes and the commercial demands of bringing collections to market.

The choice of venue also reflects the event’s wider economic ambitions. Located within the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone, Sira Village is being developed as a retail and lifestyle destination that brings local businesses into contact with international brands and visitors. Hosting Labdanation Fashion Week creates another opportunity to position the space as a meeting point for fashion, design and entrepreneurship.

Tantowi Yahya, President Commissioner of Kura Kura Bali and President Director of Sira Village Grand Outlet Bali, has described the collaboration as part of the destination’s commitment to supporting local enterprises. Speaking to Indonesian news agency ANTARA, he highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for innovative Indonesian businesses to gain visibility and develop their commercial potential.

For participating designers, the event offers more than a conventional runway presentation. It brings creative work into a setting where relationships with manufacturers, retailers and other industry participants may support future business development. Whether those opportunities translate into sustained growth will depend on the partnerships and commercial connections established beyond the event itself.

Connecting Fashion Design With Responsible Textile Production

Alongside its creative programme, Labdanation Fashion Week will highlight developments in digital textile printing and manufacturing practices intended to support more efficient production. The event’s organiser, PT Labda Anugerah Tekstil, was founded in Bali in February 2020 and specialises in digital textile printing, serving both domestic and international customers.

The company uses an Epson Monna Lisa ML-32000 digital textile printing system and reports incorporating water-based inks, biological wastewater treatment and material recycling initiatives into its operations. These technologies are relevant to smaller fashion businesses seeking greater flexibility in textile design and production, particularly where limited quantities, customised prints and manufacturing consistency are important.

Labda also identifies environmental management and product testing as part of its manufacturing strategy. According to its corporate information, the company holds ISO 14001:2015 environmental management certification, OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and OEKO-TEX STeP credentials, alongside recognition under Indonesia’s Green Industry Standard. It has additionally reported distinctions from Indonesia’s Museum of World Records (MURI) relating to its digital printing technology and certification achievements.

While these credentials provide context for the company’s manufacturing operations, they do not independently establish the environmental performance of every textile or finished garment. The wider sustainability implications of digital printing depend on factors including fibre selection, energy and water use, chemical inputs, production volumes and the durability of the resulting products.

Yusak Samadji Pranoto, President Director of PT Labda Anugerah Tekstil, has emphasised the importance of making advanced manufacturing technology accessible to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. In comments reported by Indonesian media ahead of the event, he positioned responsible production as an opportunity that should extend beyond large manufacturers to smaller businesses participating in the fashion industry.

The organisers have also announced an ambition to pursue a record associated with the presentation of sustainability-certified textile garments. The 67 planned runway looks form part of that initiative, although the precise certification status of individual garments and the outcome of any record attempt will need to be confirmed following the event.

The connection between designers and manufacturers is central to the programme’s broader relevance. Independent fashion labels often face challenges in sourcing materials, securing manageable production quantities and navigating technical requirements that can influence both product quality and environmental performance. Access to specialised textile infrastructure may help address some of these barriers, provided that services remain commercially viable for smaller businesses.

For Indonesia’s fashion sector, Labdanation Fashion Week illustrates how regional runway events can create space for discussions that extend beyond aesthetics. By bringing local labels, design education and textile manufacturing into a single programme, Threads of Legacy places attention on the relationships between creativity, production and enterprise development.

As Bali prepares for the 28 October presentation, the event offers an opportunity to examine how local designers can participate in a fashion industry increasingly shaped by technological change and environmental expectations. Its longer-term significance will depend not simply on the collections presented, but on whether the collaboration creates lasting opportunities for the businesses and creative professionals involved.
